The body has a natural ability to heal itself under the right conditions.
Unfortunately much of daily life creates terrible conditions for restoration. Stress and a lack of downtime make it difficult for the body to feel safe to unwind.
So what are the right conditions for healing and how do we achieve them?
I believe the very best conditions for healing are found within the DYNAMIC STILLNESS OF SUBTLE MOVEMENT. Movement brings health & life. Stagnation brings death & disease. Rust will not hinder the opening of a gate that’s hinges are used everyday. Although, I’m not talking about macro movement like exercise. I’m talking about micro movement, where the most powerful reorganising at a cellular level can occur. To achieve this, the body must be feel safe and be still. Then let the unwinding of stress patterns take care of itself.
My favourite ways to achieve the best conditions for healing are:
1. ACUPUNCTURE – people often ask how or why does it work? The key is that the needles restore our bodies NATURAL FREE FLOW. Think about blood flow. When babies are born their circulation is so good that they can fall down 2000 times and barely have any bruising, where as an elderly person only needs to fall once to develop a shinner! People are very still during the treatment but there is a whole lot of subtle movement reactivating pathways of developed inertia.
2. CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY – The body produces an involuntary rhythmic impulse distinct from the heartbeat or lung respiration. Practitioners with sensitive palpation skills can feel and communicate with this biodynamic potency. Through light touch on the body, a cranial-sacral practitioner can facilitate conditions for this Breath of Life to express itself. Within the bodies inhalation and exhalation an ESSENTIAL ORDERING FORCE takes place that unwinds patterns of stress.
3. FLOATATION TANKS – The sensory deprivation and experience of weightlessness achieved from floating in a tank creates optimal conditions for self healing. Dense magnesium sulphate relaxes the body on a deep level, LIKE AN EPIC SALT BATH. When the weight of gravity is relieved, properties in the body have more space to “be” and thus heal.
Essentially what happens during the above 3 experience is the same. The same process is achieved by deliberately becoming still and observing the bodies natural rebalancing. And because THE BODY LOVES VARIETY, i like to practise all 3!
