FOOD AND DRINK CHOICES

I made a comic about the mind field of FOOD & DRINK CHOICES out there. Do you ever feel overwhelmed with what food and drink to choose? Me too.

I think the best advice is to steer clear of stiff concepts and dogmatic diets. Our bodies have a natural wisdom of knowing what we need. This “KNOWING” is very individual. What is right for one person is wrong for another.

Choosing and eating with AWARENESS is key. This means “checking oneself” in the moment and asking our bodies what they need. Not opting for what we always choose out of habit, but really listening to our inner wisdom. And if our inner wisdom wants coffee and cake, so be it!

Although if your often craving SWEET foods, it may be that your Earth (spleen) element is out of balance and you may need to consult your chinese medicine doctor. Similarly if you always want SALT, your water element may be needing some re-harmonising.

We can be nourished by anything. As long as we consume in moderation and we feel SATISFIED by the experience. Be careful about labelling food as being “good, bad or ugly”. If we feel guilty after eating, we completely destroy any chance of nourishment.

Eat foods you ENJOY! Don’t eat Kale if you can’t stand the taste just because somebody says it’s “GOOD” for you!
